Call for Participation: MyAfricanHeritage

The African World Heritage Fund is calling on Africans from all backgrounds -including youths and heritage professionals- to participate in celebrating African heritage during Africa Month starting on African World Heritage Day on 5 May 2022.


The celebration aims to promote and celebrate the fantastic heritage and culture that the African continent possesses through its communities and people. In this sense, a programme is established for the celebration with the aim of engaging and involving young people and professionals in activities centred on the theme of the year “African Heritage as a source for Humanity, Innovation, and Resilience.

This celebration is open to all Africans to be as inclusive as possible allowing every African to celebrate their heritage.

Contest
  • Internship Contest (Prize): A two- month paid internship at EPA- Ecole du Patrimoine Africain (School of African Heritage): it includes a round-trip flight ticket and stipend.
  • Heritage site contest (Prize): A trip to a World Heritage Site: it includes a round-trip flight ticket and full service,
Participation
  • Internship Contest: Participants are invited to share a photo, video or written post on the theme of “African Heritage as a source for Humanity, Innovation, and Resilience”. Participation should respect the following rules:
    • Social media networks: Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and LinkedIn are the platforms used for the competition.
    • The entrant may participate on multiple platforms.
    • The number of posts is unlimited
    • The photo or video must be of high resolution and the video should not exceed 5 minutes.
    • The participant should use the tags: #MyAfricanHeritage #internship on the post
    • The participant should suggest at least one of their contacts to participate by tagging them.
    • The prize will go to the post with the most reach and engagement on social media (one post on one platform, counting the number of reactions, likes and shares)
    • All content shared must be the property of the participant. The AWHF takes no responsibility for intellectual property rights issues.
  • Heritage site contest: Participants are asked to share a photo, video or written post on the theme of “African Heritage as a source for Humanity, Innovation, and Resilience”. Participation should respect the following rules:
    • The competition is open to all Africans, without any age limit.
    • Social media networks: Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and LinkedIn are the platforms used for the competition.
    • The participant may participate on multiple platforms.
    • The number of posts is unlimited.
    • The participant should use the tag #MyAfricanHeritage
    • The participant must indicate the African World Heritage Site they would like to visit if they win the competition.
    • The participant will have to suggest to at least one of their contacts to participate by tagging them.
    • The prize will go to the post with the most reach and engagement on social media (one post on one platform, counting the number of reactions, likes and shares)
    • All content shared must be the property of the participant. The AWHF takes no responsibility for intellectual property rights issues
Eligibility Criteria

The African World Heritage Fund invites partner institutions and senior professionals to join the dual celebration campaign to share their messages on the occasion of this celebration and to set an example to encourage young audiences to participate.
